Knowing the dates of birth, marriage, and death of our predecessors is not the real stuff of history. It is the beginning of understanding of Why? How? Where? Like our own lives, there is more to living than these criteria. When we experience the knowledge of these things in our ancestors, we develop a sense of ourselves that is deeper, richer, and more fulfilling.
Such has been my experience. My forebears had difficulty maintaining their marital relationships due to changes or inherent proclivity to do something different with their lives. As you can see, I am that way as well.
